Ranminithenna Tele-Cinema village; Construction expenses exceed generated income
The Ranminithenna tele-cinema village is the largest construction ever made for the benefit of Sri Lankan tele and cinema industry. The construction of this site was in the aim of providing great sustenance to the industry. It was built in the year 2010 at the cost of over six hundred and thirty million rupees. However, if this facility is properly used today is a question. The basic cost spent in constructing this Ranminithenna was at Rs. 31, 8222, 874.70/=
Between the years 2010 and 2018, 19 tele-dramas and 14 cinema creations were shot at the Ranminithenna village. The highest income Ranminithenna made was in the year 2014 making an amount of Rs. 20,857,203.08/=. However, according to information received through an RTI it was confirmed that that the total income this tele-cinema village has made does not cover the cost spent for its construction. If these are better monitored by the relevant authorities proper use could be made of facilities like this.
